Andi is a new kind of search engine using generative AI
Andi is conversational search with an intelligent assistant that's friendly and visual. We're not trying to build AGI or some sort of all-knowing super-intelligence. Andi is just a helpful tool that finds answers and information online, and packages it up so it's easy to understand, in the same way as a good research assistant.
Behind the scenes, it's a new type of search engine that uses generative AI and large language models (LLMs) combined with live data, smart algorithms and semantic search technology. Andi works like humans do, combining language models with reasoning and common sense. This means it can think before it answers, and doesn't make things up like other chatbots.
We use language models to understand what you're looking for, and to predict the best places to find it. Then we query them directly in real-time, rather than using a static keyword index.
So not only does Andi use a new type of interface for searching, the way it works is also completely different to other search engines or chatbots. Andi is proud to have pioneered AI + Chat + Search, going all the way back to our first prototypes in 2021, and our launch as Andi with AI answers at the start of 2022.
We're the little startup the others all copy, and many of the great ideas that Andi pioneered are now even showing up on Google and Bing. They can't even imagine what our friendly little Andi bot has coming next 🤗

Andi is made by a small mission-driven team
We're a small team of two founders (Angela and Jed) and some friends. We're on a mission to unbreak the Internet and save the world from spam, misinformation and ad tech.
Search is broken because of misinformation, SEO spam and ads, and surveillance capitalism. It hasn't changed in 20 years. Things are getting worse. The rise of GPT-based chatbots that confidently generate accurate-sounding "BS" with made-up sources is driving misinformation through the roof.
We're lucky to be backed by some early far-sighted investors and advisors, and by Y Combinator, the world's most successful startup accelerator.

Release status
Andi is a new product in early testing. In tech industry terms, it's not quite a beta version yet, but it's a fairly stable beta 😂
It's come a long way from our early prototype, but it's not a commercial release intended for full production use yet. But it is pretty cool!
Andi is undergoing rapid development, and things will break from time to time, although we're trying to reduce the breaking changes 😇

Our Privacy Promise
Andi is both private and anonymous. We promise not to share your data with anyone else in any way, shape or form. We promise to never store or look at what you search. Private means that only you have access to what you search or read, or where you go online or offline.
We only collect and retain sufficient data to help our customers use the service effectively, when they want to create an account or be remembered between devices and sessions, and to improve the service we provide by understanding how people use the app.

Use Andi as the world's easiest-to-install App!
Try Andi out as an app! Tap Share > Add to Home Screen on mobile. On desktop browsers like Chrome, use the Install button in the top right of your browser's address bar.
You can also set Andi as your default web browser search engine and use it directly from your address bar. Please note that this is currently experimental and a little buggy 😇

What happened to LazyWeb?
LazyWeb.ai was the name of our early prototype. After a lot of feedback from our community, we've named our search engine Andi, which was already the name of our little bot. That's been a popular decision 😎
We also switched to andisearch.com. It turns out many organizations still block .ai domains.
